The traditional dishes usually include fish, local meat and home-grown vegetables. The delicious olive oil pressed on the island and the wonderful local wine should not be missed on your menu.
Typical Dalmatian specialties:
Pašticada – a Dalmatian meat specialty of beef in rosemary-red wine sauce, usually served with gnocchi
Bijeli/Crni Rižot – Colored Dalmatian risottos. The “Crni “ is made using the „ink“ from squid.
Špagheti sa plodovima mora – Spaghetti with seafood
Salata od Hobotnice – Octopus salad
Popara– the Korcula fish stew
Škarpina, Zubatac, Orada – first-class grilled fish like grouper, bream and sea-bream
pod Pekom – meat or fish and vegetables baked in earthenware pots in the traditional way
Dalmatinski Pršut – smoked ham made in the old Dalmatian way ,dried by the winter winds which gives it a distinct flavour. This ham is similar to the Italian Prosciutto but it is really not comparable with it.
Slane – salted small fish
Paški Sir – one of the world best sheeps milk cheeses from the island of Pag, left to ripen in the cool north ‘Bora’ wind
Cevapcici i raznjici – A grilled dish of minced meat, a type of skinless sausage and spit roasted pork Kebab sticks.
